Yates Environmental Sciences specializes in ecotoxicogical investigations and environmental risk assessments. We routinely assist licensed remediation professionals in achieving compliance with federal and state ecological risk assessment requirements. Our passion for the complexities of ecological systems is at the heart of what we do.

      Brian Yates

Brian Yates has 15 years of experience in ecotoxicology, contaminated sediments, ecological risk assessment, and risk-based remediation. Brian obtained his Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies at Rowan University and M.S. in Environmental Sciences at West Texas University. Since 2012, Brian has helped to lead the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's "Ecological Protective Clean-up Level (PCL) Database", a food chain model that can calculate PCLs for over 70 wildlife species and over 100 contaminants, including perfluorakyl substances (PFAS). Brian published his Master's thesis on the effects of herbicides on harmful golden alga (Prymnesium parvum) blooms. As an active practitioner in New Jersey, Brian prepares Ecological Evaluations and Ecological Risk Assessments for sites ranging from retail gas stations to huge riverside generation stations with over 100 Areas of Concern. He assists developers of wetland mitigation banks to characterize and manage contaminated sediments. Brian regularly teaches "Ecological Risk Assessment for Site Remediation" for  Continuing and Professional Education Services, and has instructed hundreds of Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) on ecological risk- based cleanup.
